Speaker's Night: "From dust grains to stars and shots in the Dark."
Star formation is incredibly inefficient. Compared to the available amount of gas in molecular clouds, only a few percent of the cloud forms stars. Understanding the size and evolution of dust grains in ISM is significant in answering why star formation is a very inefficient process in the universe.
