Join us online to learn basic astronomy that you can do on your own from your backyard!
We'll give you the tools to learn astronomy on your own at home, along with some observing goals to try. All you need is your computer! A pair of binoculars will help, but are not necessary. Sessions are always on Tuesdays at 3:30pm ET, but frequency of sessions changes.

Astronomy in Action: Planetarium Live! Episode 3 (ONLINE)
Planetarium Live! is an interactive journey through the cosmos! Every episode we learn some new concepts in Astronomy while encouraging questions and audience participation.
Episode 3 is going to be 100% on the Universe Sandbox software we used last week, and we are taking suggestions for:
1. What Planet / Moon / Star should we smash into the Earth?2. We can make black holes! What should we feed it?3. What other crazy 'what if' scenarios should we try?

Explore the Universe - from the comfort of your home! During these family-friendly sessions, a DDO Astronomer will answer your questions about the observatory, astronomy and space, telescopes, and the motions of the sky using powerful astronomy software and eye-catching visuals! Only one registration per household is required.
Please register for this program by 5:00pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Prior to the start of the program you will be emailed information on the virtual program links and any specific information relating to your program.

Ontario Science Centre: Meteors & Meteorites (ONLINE)
Find out what a meteor is and what causes a meteor shower. Discover the different types of meteorites and get tips to identify them. Then use your new knowledge of space rocks to go searching for meteorites among the Earth rocks. Plus, get a chance to ask an expert from the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration at Western University your burning questions and prepare for the famous Perseids meteor shower, which is set to peak this year on the night of August 11. Let’s look to the stars!
