DDO: Ask an Astronomer (ONLINE)

Explore the Universe - from the comfort of your home! During these family-friendly sessions, a DDO Astronomer will answer your questions about the observatory, astronomy and space, telescopes, and the motions of the sky using powerful astronomy software and eye-catching visuals! Only one registration per household is required. Deadline to register for this program is Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 3:00pm. Prior to the start of the program you will be emailed information on the virtual program links and any specific information relating to your program.

Ontario Science Centre: Exploring the Cosmos with the James Webb Space Telescope

The first images from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have been released, and we’ve never been more curious about the celestial. Join us in the Hot Zone at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 28, for a presentation by Nathalie Ouellette—astrophysicist, science communicator and Canada’s JWST Outreach Scientist. Learn all about the JWST, including Canada’s involvement in its mission, why it’s important and what it has helped researchers learn about the universe so far. Join the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for this four-night course, where you will be introduced to observing the night sky. After the course, you will be able to identify the brighter stars and constellations and have a basic understanding of the motion of the night sky.
