Dark Sky Star Party (GO for Wednesday)

See the Milky Way and galaxies with the unaided eye. Point your telescope to find the many dim deep space objects that sprinkle the sky. Away from Toronto's light pollution, there is so much to see. We usually observe from Long Sault Conservation Area, but this month we will be going to Glen Major Forest. Observing will begin around dusk in the parking lot. We will hold this event on the first clear night of our week-long window, so the exact date will be determined closer to the event.

Clarington Public Library: Winter WonderLearn

The RASC - Toronto Centre will be an active participant at the annual Winter WonderLearn held in Courtice. Indoors, we will talk astronomy to visiting families, show young astronomers how to use planispheres, distribute literature and, weather permitting, show the sun with our solar scopes outside. This Family Day, your family can enjoy a free day of fun at a festival designed to get you active, learn something new, and enjoy time together!

CAO 2018 Spring Work Party - No more volunteers required.

Due to an enthusiastic response, we are no longer accepting volunteers for the Spring Work Party as we have reached our capacity in being able to provide a place to sleep as well as cooking for everyone. This year, the Carr Astronomical Observatory (CAO) is celebrating its 20th anniversary.  This site and the facilities that we continue to use today could not have reached this milestone without the countless hours put in by RASC-TC volunteers at work parties to do regular maintenance and to make improvements.

Millennium Square Stargazing Night (NO GO for Saturday)

Everyone is invited to join us and Durham Skies on July 21 for stargazing at the edge of Lake Ontario. Take a free look through different kinds of telescopes (including solar-filtered scopes) to get close-up looks at sunspots, craters on the Moon, brilliant Venus, rosy Mars, giant Jupiter, and Saturn with its rings. Peer deep into space and try your hand at spotting faint star clusters and nebulae. You can even bring your own telescope along and we'll give you expert advice on how to use it better.
