Mars is at opposition tonight! That means it's on the exact opposite side of the sky to the Sun, and we get to see it all night long. Join us tonight for live views of Mars and the other fall planets through our members' telescopes. We'll have a guest expert on Mars and will be spending lots of time answering your pressing questions about the red planet!

RASC National Society: Virtual Star Party (ONLINE)

COVID-19 got you down? Getting bored sitting at home in self-isolation? Come take a look at the stars from the comfort of your own home! On Wednesday, March 25, The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be talking about what’s up in the sky right now. Learn how you can observe while still self-isolating, how to use those old binoculars you have lying around to take a look at the sky, and (weather permitting) go on a tour of the galaxies and nebulae that are up in the sky right now using RASC’s robotic telescope.

Ontario Science Centre: Family Trivia Night: Hallowe'en Fun (ONLINE)

Kick off your Halloween weekend and test your knowledge of spooky science, from creepy crawlies here on Earth to the mysterious depths of outer space. Be amazed by live views* of Venus, Saturn, Jupiter and other eerie celestial objects from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada’s telescope as we explore the dark night sky. All you need to play is a piece of paper and a pencil—and family members who are ready for a frightfully fun time! *Please note that live views through the telescope will be weather permitting

DDO Astronomy Night (CANCELLED)

Visit a unique historical site in Richmond Hill and experience an engaging presentation led by expert and researchers in astronomy, covering a variety of exciting astronomy topics. After the presentation, participants will tour the observatory and see a demonstration of the 74" telescope. If the sky is clear, the dome will be opened and the telescope pointed to an interesting celestial object for the visitors to view. Please wear/bring appropriate supplies for being outdoors. All registered participants under the ages of 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

DDO Astronomy Family Night (CANCELLED)

Families will be introduced to the wonders of astronomy through a presentation on a variety of exciting astronomy topics, followed by age-appropriate celestial activities and a demonstration of the 74" telescope. If the sky is clear the dome will be opened and the telescope pointed to an interesting celestial object for the visitors to view. All participating family members must be registered and any participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
