Speaker: Prof. Paul Scholz, York University
Abstract: Fast Radio Bursts are short, bright bursts of radio waves that come from far outside of our Milky Way galaxy. It is an open mystery what causes them and where they come from. In the talk I will outline what we know so far about Fast Radio Bursts and what we think could be causing them. I will introduce the CHIME telescope at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in British Columbia and how it is has revolutionized the study of FRBs.
