Speaker's Night: Always looking, always learning - from amateur astronomy to computing, and back again (ONLINE)
Speaker: Jabavu "Jaba" Adams, York University
Jaba Adams got interested in astronomy a bit before he got seriously interested in computing. Over time, that interest in computing and programming came to dominate almost all of his time, but he has always returned to astronomy. Now, more than ever, amateur astronomers have access to a wealth of information, tools, and devices that we could only dream of when he was a kid. Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, 3d-printing, machine learning. Let's explore some of these technologies and think about how they can help us on our journey to understand and to find beauty while looking up.
