We have all watched many "comets of the century" come and go over the decades.  many have not delivered on the hyped expectations.  While Comet Ison did not deliver stunning spectacles in the December 2013 skies, it has nonetheless been quite the attention grabber and raised public awareness of cometary visitors to new heights.  In this presentation, a brief history of some of the more spectacular comets in history will be given, touching on where such visitors to the inner Solar System originate and finishing off with a summary of last year's "Comet of the Century".  What has Comet Ison bequeathed to history and astronomy in particular?
