CAO Mini Work party Report for July 2025
On Saturday July 12, 20925, several RASC Toronto Centre volunteers attended our observatory property at the CAO to affect some needed maintenance. This date was selected as we wanted to approach some outdoor projects that required warmer weather for outdoor refinishing projects that we had not been able to complete during recent fall and spring dates. The weather cooperated and the day was perfect for approaching these!

Tasks that were accomplished this time included: a deep clean of the house and observatories, placement of a flexible crack filler at the observing pad plates, installation of bedroom blackout roller blind guide tracks, repairs to THO shutters, repairs of picnic tables, repainting of the GBO outrigger rails and our hydro meter cabinet, and a tidy up of the garage. This was also excellent timing as our members open house and awards picnic, or OHAP, will be held there this coming Saturday, July 26.

There was also a lot of effort invested in maintaining our grounds by mowing the lawns, pruning trees, removing weeds from flower beds, walkways and building perimeters, and maintenance of our mowing equipment. All these efforts are so valuable in properly maintaining our site assets and present our grounds in such a beautiful condition.

Food and drink were kindly organized this time by our kitchen team of Ralph and Elaine. Of course the U of T once again had a sizable contingent participating in this event.
Our sincere thanks go to the following RASC Toronto Centre members: Mahesh Aravamudan, Jeff Booth, Hocine Boudhar, Bob Bowdler, Dave Brodie, Kevin Cheryan, Ralph Chou, Elaine dos Santos, Denis Grey, Tony Horvatin, Mike Reid, Richard Sewards, Chris Troup, and Michael Williams.
