This coming Monday October 31st there are two, that's right TWO amazing astronomy halloween events occurring! The Allan I. Carswell Observatory Presents: Herschel and the Haunted Telescope. Whether you are a fan of music, physics, astronomy, history or even just Halloween we have somethign for everyone!
7:00-8:00pm: Lecture and Concert Event
In this lecture, Dr. Parandis Tajbakhsh will explore the life of the premier astronomer of the 17th century Sir William Herschel as a musician and composer, his gradual transformation to an astronomer and finally his fascinating ideas about extra-terrestrial life and plurality of the worlds.
Music Concert details
Herschel wrote 24 solo caprices for violin. These caprices beautifully capture the genius of Herschel as a composer well ahead of his time. Three young violinists will play caprices no.1, 7, 11, 14 and 20.
