The Astro-Video Learning Curve

Video: The Astro-Video Learning Curve with François van Heerden

Submitted by rasc@johnginder.com on 7 April 2021

As you get older and your eyesight is diminishing or light pollution is encroaching on your neighbourhood and you are not getting as much out of astronomy anymore, is there an alternative? Yes, there is! François van Heerden explains the learning curve needed to get into Astro-Video or Electronic Assisted Astronomy (EAA). François points out that this is not the traditional approach to astro-photography, where it takes time to collect and process data. With this approach, you can show your observations near real-time to your family and friends or even to an audience at an outreach event. François presented this talk at the online Recreational Astronomy Night meeting of the RASC, Toronto Centre, which was held on April 7, 2021.
