Total Solar Eclipse Tour Indonesia 2016

The RASC Toronto Centre and Bestway Tours & Safaris are pleased to announce that reservations are being accepted for the Centre’s expedition to observe the total solar eclipse on 9 March 2016 from Pangkalan Bun on the island of Borneo in Indonesia. This 13-day tour also includes visits to the historic temples of Borobodur and 4 days on Bali. Bestway has been handling details for our expeditions since 2006 to view solar eclipses and the 2012 transit of Venus. Most of the total eclipse track for this event passes over open seas during the afternoon in an area that is not generally served by passenger liners. Although a ship-based tour was considered, we feel that there are better opportunities with a land-based expedition viewing the eclipse in the morning hours. In the region around Pangkalan Bun, the total eclipse will occur just before 0730 with the Sun at about 26 degrees altitude.
