Speaker's Night: “10 Years (and counting) of Curiosity” (ONLINE)

Speaker: Alex Innanen, MSc, PhD Candidate at York University, they/them

Abstract: The Curiosity rover has been on Mars for over 10 Earth years, exploring Gale Crater. In that time it has traveled over 28 km, has made countless discoveries about both the past and present environment, including clues as to whether or not Mars was once habitable, and has taken over 500,000 images. My talk will cover a brief history of Curiosity’s mission, highlight some of its exciting findings, and discuss the challenges of working remotely on another planet.
