NYAA's Starfest 2013: Comet Tales!

Our friends from the North York Astronomical Association invite you to attend their annual star party, August 8-11, 2013.

Fishing through the cosmic sea can inspire some tall tales and some of the biggest tales are our tales of comets. And the thing that tells the tale of a comet is its tail. How big, how short, the first comet we ever saw, the biggest comet..."I swear, it was THAT big!!"...and the next big comet. This year is looking like the Year of the Comets with no less than three gracing our skies and either inspiring or set to create new amazing tales of comet tails slicing across the heavens! Join us at Starfest 2013 where we'll trade tales of comets past, present and future.

Starfest is Canada's largest annual amateur astronomy conference and star party attracting hundreds of astronomy enthusiasts from Ontario and neighbouring provinces and states. It has also been ranked among the top star parties in North America by Sky and Telescope magazine and as one of the world's top 10 star parties.

Starfest offers a variety of observing-oriented activities that address the needs and interests of experienced observers and astrophotographers, as well as those of people new to the hobby. Activities include observing sessions, a guided sky tour at night, formal and informal slide presentations, and commercial exhibits with vendors on-site to explain how their products work with hands on displays.
