DDO Star Talk: Life in the Cosmos (SOLD OUT)

Speaker: Dr. Michael Reid, Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics, University of Toronto.

For thousands of years, people have wondered whether, in the vastness of the cosmos, life exists anywhere other than on Earth. With the recent discoveries of hundreds of potentially habitable planets orbiting stars other than our Sun, we are tantalizingly close to answering this question.

Star Talk nights offer great talks by great speakers on astronomy, space science and sometimes, science fiction.

You'll also have a chance to tour the Observatory and (weather permitting) check out the night sky through a variety of telescopes set up on the lawn and through the big scope in the Main Dome.  If the weather gods are angry, you can check out the (virtual) night sky in our new Skylab.

Star Talk nights run regardless of weather conditions.

Tickets must be purchased in advance for Star Talk nights on the  David Dunlap Observatory website.  Click on the "Buy Now" button beside the desired date and time that will take you to the online ticket purchasing page.  The online system limits to 10 tickets per order.

Tickets for speaker nights are non-refundable since the program runs regardless of sky or weather conditions. If it's cloudy, hang onto your tickets for free viewing on a future evening.

Please do not bring young children to our Star Talk nights. While our guest lecturers gear their talks for the general public, young children are likely to find it a very long night. Kids will find  Family Nights a much better experience. For safety reasons, children under 7 years of age are not permitted in the Main Dome.
