York University Observatory: Orionid Meteor Shower 2019 (GO for Tuesday)

Come view the 2019 Orionid Meteor Shower with the Allan I. Carswell Observatory Team at York University! With up to 15 meteors visible every hour, multiple telescopes available for viewing celestial objects and a constellation tour, it will be a fun, astronomy filled night! ASX Star Talk: Stellar Fossils of the Early Universe

Hey stargazers! Ever wonder how astronomers study the history of galaxies? If so, join ASX at our Star Talk on Wednesday, October 30, in Lash Miller Chemical Laboratories (LM), Room 161. Professor Jeremy Webb will be illuminating the nature of globular clusters, and how we can use them to better understand galaxies! The free, public lecture itself is from 7:00pm-8:00pm followed, weather permitting, by a free, public telescope viewing atop MP. Everyone is welcome!

RASC, Mississauga Centre: Transit of Mercury at The Riverwood Conservancy

For the first time since 2016, the planet Mercury will pass between the Earth and the Sun, making it visible as a small dot against the Sun’s disc. While it will be an amazing sight to behold, looking directly at the sun is dangerous. So the experts from the Mississauga Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will be setting up their properly-filtered telescopes at Riverwood to offer you safe, clear views of the transit.
