Michael Watson, a life member of the RASC, gave a talk at the Recreational Astronomy Night on April 26, 2017 on the upcoming "Great American Eclipse" of August 21, 2017. He covered the best time of the day to see it, the best places, the weather, the safest eye protection devices, how to prepare for the eclipse, yes, months in advance, how to view and photograph the eclipse, recommended equipment, and why the duration of the eclipse might not be the optimum factor in choosing a location to view it.
