OSC: Space Unites The World Star Party

The red planet and the ringed gas giant are waiting for you among the stars. In celebration of World Space Week, observe Mars and Saturn* up close through a telescope. Launch a bottle rocket. Meet a real-life rocket scientist. Enjoy a special screening of the Journey To Space IMAX® film. World Space Week celebrates scientists and space explorers from around the globe whose work has helped humankind. This year, the theme is “Space Unites The World.”

* In the event of poor weather, Star Party activities will be held indoors. Telescope observing is weather dependent.

Guest Speakers

7:30pm | University of Toronto Aerospace Team 

You’ve got questions about rockets? They’ve got answers. Meet the award-winning design team of university students that designs and builds drones, satellites and, of course, rockets. Get to know these future leaders in aerospace and innovation. 

8:00pm | Natalie Panek, Aerospace Engineer

As a Member of Technical Staff at MDA’s Robotics and Automation division, Natalie works on the next generation of Canadian space robotics and space exploration programs. She seeks to pursue the road less travelled while working towards her dream of becoming an astronaut.

Uncover the risks and rewards of NASA’s Shuttle Era. Find out how the international space community has contributed to the International Space Station. See what plans NASA has in store for journeying farther into space than ever before — like sending humans to the red planet.
