Dunlap Institute Video: Planet Party 2020

Submitted by rasc@johnginder.com on 12 September 2020

Even at home, you’re never alone! On Saturday, September 12, the Dunlap Institute and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Toronto Centre (https://www.rascto.ca) are bringing you the very first online, variety show edition of our popular Planet Party!

Starting at 8pm ET, we’ll invite you to stargaze with our all-star team of astronomers. The preview content starts at 8:00, and the live stream begins at 8:30. If you're up for it, plan to watch from outside so you can stargaze and hunt for Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn along with us. We'll live-stream views from our observatories and through our telescopes. If it's cloudy, we'll show you what to look for when it's clear.

You can learn the constellations of both local Indigenous cultures and the Western ones. Our entertaining experts will share the latest news about how Canada will help explore Mars, and break down what’s going on with the monster black hole at the centre of our galaxy. Come play a space trivia game to win a super space prize – we’ve got a little bit of everything for you.

The full schedule, list of prizes, downloadable sky maps, and contest rules are all here:
