John joined the RASC Toronto Centre in 2000. He has enjoyed participating in many public education outreach activities, including star parties and observing sessions and also taught a class for the NOVA program. He was the RASC TC Telescope Loan Program co-ordinator for 8 years. He continues to be a participant at CAO work parties.

Now retired, John’s teaching career spanned about 30 years, working for the Toronto Catholic District School Board as an elementary school teacher where he taught general subjects from Grades 1 to 8, as well as French. He also organized evening star parties for students in schools where he taught.

John served a 2-year term as treasurer for his sub-unit of the professional organization the Ontario English Catholic Teachers of Ontario. 

In volunteer service, John coached a boys' baseball team with the community league Annette Baseball and served on the board of the league for 3 years. John continues to be a regular blood donor, first for the Canadian Red Cross, and then for Canadian Blood Services, for the past 40 years.
